SAN DIEGO, CA (AP) — Inmates at a Southern California prison are under investigation for taking part in a “mannequin challenge” video inside a prison dorm.
The one-minute video shows inmates in several frozen stances — one in the bathroom, others fighting and one holding a prohibited cellphone.
It had been viewed more than 100,000 times on YouTube by Tuesday.
California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation spokeswoman Terry Thornton says one inmate has been transferred from a dorm setting to an individual cell as part of an ongoing investigation.
Usually a trend like the mannequin challenge dies once parents start doing it.
Maybe the new standard for the death of a trend is when inmates take part.
The (not so) surprising thing is that this isn’t the first inmate mannequin challenge.
